I recently was asked by someone to write a poem for a sympathy card that
they could send to a friend who’s pet had died. It occured to me that
there may be others who could use the poem.

I hope these words will help
To ease your grieving heart,
Now your loving companion
From you has had to part.
For pets are just as people
A family member true,
Faithful and so loving,
Wanting just to be with you.
So please accept my sympathy
As I share with you a tear,
And if you need a friend to comfort you,
Do have faith, I will be here.
