It's DEMEROL (meperidine), a very widely used sedative/analgesic, and
any other opiods of that type, if the patient has been on any MAO
inhibitor such as selegiline (Eldepryl). Eldepryl may also have very
severe interaction with any tricyclic antidepressant, e.g., Parnate,
or any selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, e.g., Prozac. If you
have been taking Eldepryl before any procedure involving sedation
and/or anesthesia, for example colonoscopy, be absolutely sure that
the attending physicians and nurses know and understand that.
