There are many medications that can be cut or broken in half to obtain a
lower dosage of the medication. In almost all instances, pills that can
safely be cut are scored (an indented line down the middle of the pill).
When the manufacturer scores a pill, they are assuring that there are equal
amounts of the drug in both halves.

Tasmar is not scored, so there is a possibility that the drug may not be
evenly distributed throughout the pill. For example if a 100mg pill is cut
in half, there may be more of the actual drug in one half, than the other
such as (and this is just an example) 60mg and 40mg. This may cause
inconsistant response to the medication.

Due to the film coating on the Tasmar, breaking the tablet may destroy it's
matrix (the make up of the pill) which also can cause uneven distribution
of the medication.

Tasmar enhances the effects of Sinemet and it can also be said that it
enhances the side effects of Sinemet as well. Perhaps, instead of cutting
the Tasmar, you should go to your doctor, discuss the side effects you are
having and ask if an adjustment of Sinemet is in order. Maybe by taking a
lower dose of Sinemet, or less frequent dosing, the side effects will lessen.
