PDFCPMC has sent the above WordPerfect file as an attachment. I have
not retrieved it (I can convert WordPerfect files but it takes
special software).

Aside from attachments being prohibited on Lists:

1. A binary file such as a word-processing file can contain viruses
which can infect your hard drive.

2. Unless the recipient of the file has the same program (in this
case, WordPerfect), the file will be unreadable. There are
conversion programs (which I have), but most people do not.

3. People who are receiving mail via Digest will get nothing, and the
attachment may prevent them from getting the rest of the Digest.

4. Large attachments can flood the List and shut it down (Barbara
Patterson has already written about that).

If someone wants to send a file, please send it as plain text (ASCII)
and as a "paste" (not as an attachment).

Best,

Bob
