Dear Jeana -- and all Listmembers, I think Jeana's idea is a good one, especially for those of us who have been on the list for awhile. While new members often introduce themselves, they never get to know the "oldtimers" who introduced themselves earlier. I'm Kathrynne Holden, a registered dietitian, specializing in nutrition for people with PD. Although I don't have Parkinson's disease, I work closely with many people who do, and carers of PWP (people with Parkinson's). I often speak to PD support groups and symposiums, and have completed a pilot study on nutrition and PD, which I've submitted to a professional journal for possible publication. Working with my local PD support group, we've sent letters and post cards to support passage of the Udall bill, and to try to get funding for it. I continue to believe this bill will be funded, and that a cure will be found. Currently, I've received a grant from the American Dietetic Association to write a self-study manual for registered dietitians on managing the unique nutrition needs of people with PD. I've also written an inservice program for health professionals in clinical, home health care, and long term care, on nutrition and PD. It's my hope that bringing PD needs to the attention of a wide group of health professionals will further awareness of the need for research into finding a cure for PD; and also provide for better care for people in all stages of PD. I appreciate the honor of being a member of this listserv, as I'm neither a PWP nor a carer of a PWP. I have learned, and continue to learn, from listmembers, who constantly amaze me with their wisdom, understanding, knowledge, humor, and ingenuity in coping with the various conditions that occur with PD. My very best regards to all, Kathrynne > Jeana Bartlett wrote: > Have you ever done a brief history introduction so we can get > acquainted better? -- Kathrynne Holden, MS, RD "Nutrition you can live with!"
