An important symptom of BPH is urinary retention or hesitation; BUT it's also common in PD, even when there is NO prostate problem! Some urologists/surgeons are so eager to destroy the prostate with the popular TURP operation that they will try to talk you into it anyway, on the basis of "won't harm, might help", even if they cannot find any real obstruction. Well, it DOES harm. After TURP, your sex life is over! (Viagra notwithstanding). And it won't do a thing about urinary problems caused by PD. So don't let him cut until you check with your neurologist to make SURE the urinary retention isn't merely neurogenic. If you're unlucky enough to be found by the urologist before you're diagnosed with PD, tough. Cheers, Joe -- J. R. Bruman (818) 789-3694 3527 Cody Road Sherman Oaks, CA 91403-5013
