Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 167 First to Marling: I hope things improve for you and your family at a much faster rate, so you can heal, and get back to normal. To Ivan, I understand your impatience, I know it motivates you to do all in your power to "push the buttons" to find the cure for PD. Some people approach the politics of fund raising and "arm twisting" a little differently than others. There are movers and shakers, but occasionally a laid back, hands off attitude will motivate some politicians, that the "in your face" approach may not work with. If we all keep pushing and pulling from every direction, it WILL happen. It can NEVER be soon enough, until it is here. You may have heard this before: A police officer pulls a man over and starts writing a ticket for rolling past a stop sign. The man objects, : "I SLOWED DOWN!" The officer replies. "Yes, you did slow down, but the law requires you to STOP!" , "What's the difference if I slowed down or stopped?" the man whines... The officer starts beating the man on the head with his 5 cell flashlight, and calmly asks: "Now, do you want me to STOP, or SLOW DOWN?" Well, I don't think anyone here will stop or slow down until PD is conquered! To Gina: Keep up your efforts on the picture project, it is a great idea, no matter how it is done, a picture is worth a 1000 words! Even a cartoon or a caricature will get attention more than just a letter or a fax. Imagine the amount of printed material a typical politician gets on his/her desk in a day. Something has to be of a different form to get attention. I got another idea from Marling's post. Her church is helping her to do things and get organized, and that is the way it should be. I am sure she helped her church and others when she was physically able to do so. Most, if not all, churches, temples and synagogues have at least one bulletin, or newsletter, that they send to their members regularly. So do schools, clubs, political groups, and employers. If everyone on this list would write an article about Parkinson's symptoms, to be submitted to those publications, thousands of people would be informed about PD. For anyone who does not have the time to write the article, we have plenty of material in the archives that could be used. If the publication has limited room, you could just say something like "Joe Doe" has Parkinson's disease, if you would like to know more about the condition or how we can help "Joe Doe" please call "_______" at this number:________ Does this make sense to anyone else? PS, how do I get myself OFF the Digest? [log in to unmask] --part0_904961294_boundary--
