Dear listmembers,

The recent discussion on various types of wheelchairs
and when and where they can be used has lead me to wonder what other
"aids" are helpful when traveling.

I'm planning on flying my brother who has PD to Washington to visit me
and while here we may start planning a trip to England next Spring.

I know many of you traveled to DC for the PAN Forum meetings and I
wonder what preparations you made ahead of time to make your travel as
pleasant as possible. Did you request the bulkhead seat in a plane,
did you ask that a wheel chair be made available at the airport both
when you departed and when you arrived? Did you prefer to travel in
the AM or PM or did you regulate it according to your meds schedule?
How did you handle a long flight (over 3 hours). Did you try to walk
in the aisle to get exercise or not? What about changing planes - how
did you deal with it? Did you request a special diet?

I'm interested in all facets of traveling and also what you did in a
unfamiliar environment to enable you to cope successfully. These are
just a few questions that came to mind.

If I get enough responses off list I will post a summary. I think
this may be a useful file of information we could all benefit from.
