He also heads the neurology program and teaches general neurology as well as electrophysiology at the Université de Sherbrooke Faculty of Medicine. He is a member of several medical societies, in particular the Canadian Movement Disorders Group. Dr. Rivest is currently involved in numerous sponsored studies, mainly on Parkinson's and has been recently named examiner for the final neurology exam at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Jocelyn Ann Garrett has held key public relations positions in health care and in government. Since 1985, she has been involved in all aspects of marketing, public relations, community relations, employee relations ombudsman, media services and volunteer services department. Jocelyn is also the recipient of many achievement awards and has presented on an ongoing basis at the Ontario Hospital Association and IABC International Conferences. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dr. Andres Lozano, Neurosurgeon received his MD from the University of Ottawa in 1983 and obtained his Ph.D. in 1989 from McGill University in Montréal where he also trained in neurosurgery and received his Royal College Certification in 1990. Since 1991, he has been on staff at the Toronto Hospital and faculty in the Division of neurosurgery at the University of Toronto. He presently holds the position of Associate Professor and Head of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. Dr. Lozano is also a clinical scientist of the Medical Research Council of Canada. Dr. Lozano and his team are developing novel strategies to repair and restore function to the nervous system and have made important advances in the surgical treatment of Parkinson's. Dr. Pierre Blanchet, Neurologist, completed his post doctorate studies in Parkinson's at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda in the United States of America. At the time he received a fellowship from the Parkinson Foundation of Canada. Presently, Dr. Blanched is a member of the Movement Disorders team at Le Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal and is part of the research program at the André-Viallet Clinical Research Center at the St-Luc Hospital in Montréal. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dr. Renée Lyons, Ph.D. is currently Director of the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Center and a Professor in the School of Health and Human Performance, Faculty of Health Professions, Dalhousie University in Halifax. She also holds a cross appointment with the Department of Psychology. Dr. Lyons has been a leader and an advocate in promoting active living for people with disabilities, both provincially and nationally. She also has made significant contributions to the development of services and policies related to the quality of life and chronic illness in Canada. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Elspeth (Eppie) Sime, a graduate of the Toronto General Hospital of Nursing serves as a Nurse Coordinator in the Movement Disorders Clinic at the Toronto Hospital, Western Division. She has worked extensively in the support and education of Parkinsonians and their families. Eppie, as a Clinical Nurse in the Parkinson Foundation of Canada funded clinics, speaks often to Parkinson Support Groups and Chapters. She is also a nurse-specialist on the use of mid-brain stimulation as one of the surgical approaches in the treatment of Parkinson's and has published and lectured on this topic. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Gina Rohs is a graduate of St. Paul's School of Nursing in Saskatoon. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Neurological Nursing from Foothills Hospital in Calgary. She is presently Nurse Coordinator in the Movement Disorders Clinic in Calgary, providing education and support for clinic and surgical patients and their family. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Marie-Josée Fortune has been the Nurse-Coordinator of the Movement Disorder Clinic of the McGill Centre for Studies in Aging, since February 1997. Her role is to assess the needs of patients with Parkinson's and to plan with them the appropriate interventions to maintain an optimal level of health and well-being. In the last year, she has created two support groups for young Parkinsonians, allowing them to meet and share information, experience and concerns. She has more than 11 years of nursing experience on a short-term geriatric care unit at the Centre hospitalier de Verdun. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Hélène Boucher holds a baccalaureate in nursing. She is responsible for nursing follow-up within the specialized Parkinson's program at the Day Hospital of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montreal. She is also co-facilitator of workshops on the psycho-social aspects of Parkinson's. The main goal of these meetings is to improve the quality of life of Parkinsonians, by increasing their abilities to adapt to their condition. . . . . . .................... Élaine Laberge is a social worker, and also holds a baccalaureate in pedagogy, and more than ten years of experience in psychiatry. She has developed a series of workshops, on the psycho-social aspects of Parkinson's, which are part of the specialized program for Parkinsonians at the Day Hospital of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal.
