A while ago someone asked about Reglan . It is one of the drugs

which helps the digestive system work better but as it does it worsens

the Parkinson symptoms. There are a number of other drugs which

should be avoided by PWP and a list was posted recently and can

 be found in the archives.

While in the archives looking for this list you could take a look

at the articles about a drug called cisapride. (it promotes stomach

emptying and an active intestine.) I found three med journal references

to its use in Parkinsons.

Cisapride is different from the other gastro-intestinal (GI)

drugs in that it can't pass the blood-brain barrier and therefore

can't mess up the dopamine balances in the brain.

Like everything we take for Parkinsons, cisapride is a powerful drug

and must be treated with great caution. My doctor says NO BOOZE!!

Not a drop! No beer! No wine! How long must you stay on the

water wagon? As long as you are taking cisapride.

I am not recommending that anyone try this drug. Your neurologist and GI
specialist know you and

your pharmacist knows all the drugs you take. Please consult them.
