background: my father has been diagnosed with parkinsonism and lewy body
dementia. pd symptoms are not extensive at this point. (has the masked face,
shuffled gait, quiet voice, rigidity on right side, etc. no sign of tremor as
of yet). he is 10 mg of aricept a day. in addition, his doctor has been
increasing his ritalin from 10mg a day to 40 mg a day (increasing in 10mg
increments weekly) recently he has been saying he is feels hazey and light
headed. the visiting nurse said his blood pressure is extremely low when he
stands up which would account for the dizziness. (wondering if the increase
in ritalin is causing this -- waiting for the doctor to respond)

current situation: he was out walking yesterday, which he does periodically.
when he came home he was listing/leaning so far to the left that he couldn't
stand or sit up straight, plus he seemed rather spacey. mom called the home
health care nurse to check him out -- vitals were ok but recommended he see
his doctor asap. doctor did a cat scan (negative) and that was about it.
(small town, questionable medical care for such situations). he seems to be ok
today.

we don't want to dismiss this if it's an indicator of something (stroke?, over
medicated?, etc.) is this "normal" for his situation with pd and dementia?
is it a side affect of the drugs? is it something to be concerned about from
a medical standpoint? any advice? thanks for any insight.
