Dear Abby:

I am SOOOO pleased to see unisex facilities for the disabled
being discussed. My husband was a Parkinsonian for 20 years and this was
a big problem for us. Our Parkinson Support Center eventually designed
sticky labels (one is enclosed) ten years ago to put on the door that
warned people entering that the bathroom was being used by a couple.

Facilities for the disabled should also include changing tables.
Young fathers have an impossible time finding a changing area. And they
have to ask a female stranger for help when a young daughter needs help
to use the facilities. Unless OSHA makes providing unisex disabled
facilities mandatory, they will never become common. To encourage that
end, write your representatives in Washington.

                                        Sincerely,

                                        Mary Ruth Kittrell
