The essence of a hernia procedure is to stretch fascia from its weakened, loose position to some firmly attached and tougher area of fascia in the expectation that it will scar into place, thereby closing the hole. Incidentally, your kind is the most dangerous -- the possibility that a piece of bowel could strangulate through that relatively small hole is what's dangerous. Regards, WHH
