Subject: a paper Sabrina wrote for womens Literature

Hi Barry and Eve,=20
I am sending a paper Sabrina wrote she got 100% for it.
          =20
                           Janice Morgan=20
About four years ago my mother began having presymptoms of =
Parkinson disease. At the time though, she did not know it was =
Parkinson's disease. The first of the symptoms were she would suddenly =
fall with out warning. I can remember one time in particular when I was =
about fourteen years old. We were taking a walk and I was holding on to =
my mother's arm. Suddenly, I felt her fall and I went down right along =
with her. Afterwards, she felt terrible that I had fallen but I assured =
her I was fine.=20
In October of 97 my mother was diagnosed with parkinsons. When she =
first heard the news, a numbness came over her. Soon the numbness wore =
off, and reality set in. She had a good cry which made her feel somewhat =
better. Her tears were not the only one's shed.
I remember the incident well. We were all in the kitchen and my =
father took my mom in his arms and sobbed "I'm so sorry hones." "don't =
worry John I'll be all right. " I know I just feel bad."
It was then that I began crying for I felt powerless to do anything. =
The disease was taking over and I wanted to fight it to somehow make it =
disappear. I knew I couldn't;t and so I fell into despair.
The type of Parkinson's my mother has, will someday confine her to =
a wheelchair. She tells all her friends, "I won't let it take control of =
me."
I admire her for having such strength. Yes she has her bad times, =
but now she is learning to accept it for what it is.
I like her, have come to accept my blindness. Like my mother, I've had =
days where I cry because of my predicament.
She told me once that she admired me because I did not allow my =
blindness to stand in my way. If I wanted to accomplish something =
nothing would ever stop me. It is a drive that I'm sure was inherited =
from her. My mother has been my friend throughout the years., and will =
continue to be forever more.=20

The teacher wrote. This is a most poignant story of two strong women.=20
