Janet Paterson put the sinemet story very clearly and others (Ken and Joe and?) also answered but I typed an answer too So here's my 2 cents someone asked why all the different sizes of Sinemet There is some thought behind all those sizes this is how they stack up in Canada *check with your doctor and pharmacist* A the regular sinemet (blue) 10/100 and 25/250 both are quickly absorbed and ready to be used they have carbidopa in a 10-100 ratio with the levodopa about 90% of the levodopa is bioavailable B the regular sinemet (yellow) 25/100 quickly absorbed and ready to be used has carbidopa in a 25-100 ratio which is preferred by some who want too be sure of enough carbidopa about 90% of the levodopa is bioavailable C CR= controlled release, there are two sizes I'm not sure of the exact proportions the larger is scored and may be broken in two, the smaller should not be broken CR has a coating which makes the tablet dissolve slowly thus the levodopa is available for a longer time CR should not be chewed or crushed about 70% of the levodopa is bioavailable anne ruherford
