Hi all, Just a note of congratulations to those who participated in the Unity Walk and the other walks that took place. In many cities across Canada,, the 3rd annual Parkinson's SuperWalk also took place yesterday. Our local Halifax-Dartmouth Chapter participated, but the weather against us -- it rained heavily and affected out turnout drastically. As well, every year we face competition from a big, well-established AIDS walk which had over 300 walkers. Nevertheless, 30 plus people turned out to walk 2 km or 7 km routes to help raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's. That represents about 1 walker for every 10 000 people in the Halifax region. Last year we had over 100 turn out in great weather or 1 walker for every 3000 people. I really believe these Parkinson walks will be an increasingly significant means of raising awareness and funds for research and patient services everywhere. Let's keep making them better and better. Best to all and TTFN Peter ************************************************************************** Peter Kidd Learning Materials Consulting Services 62 Coronation Avenue, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3N 2M6 Canada Tel/FAX: (902) 443-4262 Email: [log in to unmask] URL: http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~aa163/peterkidd.html -----Original Message----- From: Parkinson's Information Exchange [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Terrie W. It was HOT with plenty of sunshine, reaching into the upper 80's. There were many good friends there - Dale and Maureen Severance, The General - Jim Cordy, Tony and Peggy Fazio, Bob Dolezal all the way from Arizona, Mike Claeys and Jim Warsaw from California, Gerrie and Brig Haines from Pennsylvania, Margaret and Marty Tuchman..........Many more that my sun-burned brain can't bring to mind at the moment! A huge round of hip-hip, hurrays from the listserv should go out to Ken Aidekman and Margot Zobel for another outstanding success. Oh yeah, I almost forget some really big news. The winner of the Alan Bonander Service Award ( forgive me if that's not the correct title) went to a very surprised but well deserving LUPE MCCANN!!!!! and she called her children and told them not to worry about going to the walk today!!!! Dennis Greene, I was pleased to see your piece published in the OFFICIAL Unity Walk booklet. Congratulations. WOuld you like for me to send you a copy???? I'm all out of words at the moment - will update more later! Terrie Whitling 43/16
