News Top Stories Headlines Monday September 28 11:10 AM EDT Pronounced Fit, Reno Back At Work After Fainting WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Attorney General Janet Reno, pronounced fit by her doctors, checked out of a local hospital and returned to work Monday after suffering her second fainting spell in less than a year. The Justice Department said Reno fainted Sunday for a few seconds at a Maryland church service. She said in a statement she had a good night's sleep at Georgetown University Medical Center and looked forward to returning to work. It said Dr. Edward Gwozdz, an associate of Reno's personal physician, determined she was ``100 percent fit to return to work'' and he called her vital signs ``fabulous.'' Gwozdz described Reno as ``unquestionably in good condition.'' He added that he has found that more people faint in churches and on elevators than anywhere else. Reno, 60, was diagnosed in 1995 with Parkinson's disease, a degenerative illness that causes her left arm to shake. Reno, who has served as attorney general in President Clinton's Cabinet since 1993, suffered her first fainting spell in Mexico during a reception for law enforcement officials last November. She spent the night in a hospital in Mexico City and then was released after it was determined her problem stemmed partly from fatigue. At Georgetown, doctors quickly found no evidence of heart problems, and Reno was kept overnight for observation. Although she returned to work, Reno cancelled a trip to New York City Monday. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sun Sep 27 | Sat Sep 26 | Fri Sep 25 | Thu Sep 24 | Wed Sep 23 | Tue Sep 22 | Mon Sep 21 Index | Top Stories | Business | Tech | Politics | World | Health | Entertainment | Sports | Local ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Questions or Comments Copyright © 1998 Reuters Limited.
