Struthers Inc. - Heavenly Hogs Hit America

GUELPH, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1998--Ronald Struthers,
President of
Struthers Inc. is pleased to announce an agreement with Premier Swine
Breeding Systems of Indiana to conduct the first
application of porcine embryo transfers in the United States. The
application in early October will occur between a donor
herd in Williamsburg, Iowa and a recipient herd in Monticello, Indiana.

This project follows an earlier success in 1996 with Struthers research
at the University of Guelph and the world's first
known birth of piglets from oocyte transfer - an achievement that had
eluded researchers around the world for over 30
years. The agreement with Premier Swine Breeding Systems will be the
first commercial test of this technology as a viable
method for the genetic improvement of swine herds. This will have
significant economic impacts for pork producers across
the continent, and better pork for consumers.

The embryo transfer technology will also permit for the first time, the
growth of pigs free of all known environmental
pathogens and viruses. This will have particular significance for human
medical research and the field of xenotransplants.
Clinical trials are currently underway for the use of porcine tissue in
treating various human disorders such as diabetes,
Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, skin grafts for burn victims,
liver failure, as well as heart valve and ligament tissue
replacements.

Struthers trades on OTC BB symbol STRU.
