Still a relative newbie (54/2 and learning), I find taking levodopa at
bedtime helps ... it alleviates late night (I'm a night owl) RLS, and like
Brian Collins, since adding a late dose I mostly get a good 6+ hours of
unbroken sleep. Best of all, I no longer need to visit the loo during the
night ... still remember my amazement the first time in years I woke at
about 7 am and realised I'd slept undisturbed right through the night). I
take a minimal dose (Madopar, 1 x 50/12.5 roughly x 3 hrly from 6 am to 6
pm, then 1 again about midnight). When this no longer works for me, I
think I'd like to try adding Amantadine again before branching out onto
anything different ... it worked brilliantly for me before, if only for a
short while until I developed intolerable side effects (peripheral oedema,
constipation, metallic taste and loss of appetite, blotchy skin). I'd like
to try taking, say, half the previous dose to see if I can get symptomatic
relief without what felt then like some kind of toxic overload.

For what it's worth ...
