Here is a case where knowing the truth is a disadvantage.  If I think
a sugar pill is real medicine, I get better.  If I know it's just a
sugar pill, I don't.  If one day I learn that Compound x from the
health food store which I have been taking for years and found to be
useful is really physically ineffective and works as a placebo, I
lose a psychological advantage.  How then do I mobilize my mind's
resources to accomplish what Compound x used to help me do?
