I was gestational diabetic with both my pregnancies and I was told exactly what Gina was told- that I could not throw the lancets in the trash just by themselves, but putting them in a hard bottle like a shampoo bottle and throwing this in the trash was ok. The reason I was given was that if I threw it in the trash directly, it could hurt/infect the grabage worker with my disease..... The 2 experiences were over 4 yrs and with different nurses (but same program for the diabetes). abi (Dad, 73, 4)
