NEJM Review Of PD 17 October 1998

The current (8 Oct 98, 15 Oct 98) issues of the New England
Journal of Medicine (*) carry the most authoritative, complete
(24 pages, 199 references) review of the scientific aspects of
PD yet seen. Two eminent researchers, A. Lang and A. Lozano,
have assembled the very latest answers to just about any
question you might ask about current PD research. To indicate
contents, here are the subject divisions:
   Diagnosis And Clinical Features
   Pathological Findings
Pathogenesis And Mechanisms Of Cell Death
   Epidemiology And Genetics
   Pathophysiology
   Treatment
Tables include:
-Features That Help To Distinguish Parkinsonism Due To
Other Common Causes From Parkinson's Disease
   -Drugs For Parkinson's Disease
-Developing And Future Treatment Approaches For
    Parkinson's Disease
The review is written for an audience of practicing doctors,
rather than specialists or research scientists, so jargon is
minimal and it's not too hard for nontechnical people to read.
If you're at all interested in the status and future prospects
of PD research, I recommend that you get and study this article.
