This is a followup to yesterday's message from Anne Rutherford under the subject of CORRECTION-DRUG COSTS NOT ALWAYS IN GOVERNMENT PLANS. Anne points there is no coverage in her province of Newfoundland for drug costs. In other provinces ,such as Ontario under OHIP ( Ontario Health Insurance Plan ) , there is provision for Seniors ( 65 & over ) . OHIP covers the costs of about 2800 prescription drugs including Sinemet. Seniors pay part of the cost. For example there is a dispensing fee of a maximum of $6.11. For seniors with an annual net income of more than $16,018 there is also an annual deductible of $100. One of the problems here is that at times there is sometimes a delay in obtaining approval to be added on this aforementionned list of 2800 drugs. A good case in point is the continuing delay for my costly prescription for Mirapex. From discussions with an official in the Toronto office of the manufacturer-BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM ( tel 905-639-0333 ) they have been pushing the provincial authorities for some months now but to no avail. Does anyone have any lobbying advice on how to speed up the process ??? Ken Clements < [log in to unmask] > 65/2 Ottawa CANADA
