Sorry to pick up a lost thread, but a while back we were discussing innovative first-year programs in writing. If you get a chance, here's a link to something we're doing here at DePaul, outside of freshman comp but with WAC-type goals for writing. Each course has "content" and is taught by faculty members, but not as an intro to their discipline. http://www.depaul.edu/~firstyr/fac/fac.htm Also, I read that the U of Lethbridge has an innovative first-year program.
