FYI.... There's a wonderful organization for children - adult OR youth - who have a parent or other loved one with PD. It's called "Children of Parkinsonians" (aka "COPS"). COPS offers support groups for those who have Parkie parents, and also open support groups that PWP can attend (kinda like the difference between our List-groups - the general PD List and it's sub-list, the C.A.R.E. List). COPS also offers respite care, tho I'm not sure if they offer information ABOUT respite care, or actually provide that care itself. <will know more about that after Nov. 21, when Jo Rosen, the president of COPS will be the guest speaker at the PD support group I coordinate> (errrrr... At Encino Hospital, in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley suburb of Encino, meeting every 3rd Sat. of the month, 1 to 3 p.m.) Oops! I digress.... To find out more about COPS, and to find a COPS support group near your home, call: Children of Parkinsonians (COPS) (760) 773-5628 Ask for Jo Rosen, if ya wanna go to the top of the organization. She's a real dynamo, AND she CARES... By the way, COPS is a volunteer-run agency. They get no federal funding nor do they get any financial aid from any of the major PD institutions. Donations ARE welcome, so I've been told.
