Hi to you all

I have noticed with interest recent messages re help for Freezing and feel
that an experience I have regularly with a PwP friend (David) who freezes
every time he endeavours to walk through a door. If he is not assisted he
can take up to five or more minutes before he can shuffle through the door.

If another person positions themself alongside David and then places a
foot across in front of David's, he will step off briskly and confidently
through the troublesome door. It is necessary to catch his attention and he
must watch what is being done and he is away.

When I have done this with David it has not ever failed. I sometimes feel
that he expects my help and is confident that I can get him started.

Unfortunately it is difficult to discuss the problem with David as he has
also lost the power of speech - a sad case.

I understand that there are canes available with a button in the hand grip
which activates a spring operated level arm at the point of the cane which
the PwP can selfstart themselves.

I hope these comments are of help.
