Tech Wins Gulf War Research Grant - (BLACKSBURG) -- Virginia Tech has
received a 543- thousand-dollar grant from
the U-S Army to study whether troops exposed to insecticides during the
Gulf War develop Parkinson's Disease. Doctor Jeff
Bloomquist, a neuro- physiologist at Tech, says it could take 20 years
for Parkinson's symptoms to appear... even if there is a
link. Some suspect that U-S troops may have been exposed to insecticides
sprayed in barracks and on uniforms to ward off
disease-carrying insects.
