My husband's (65/5+) PD has been pretty stable, no major changes in meds or
condition, but for one curious thing - the local Neuro, after an exam
w/strength testing (comparison of opposite arms and legs) said it was "nothing
to worry about", and not PD related. We are not convinced of either one, and
have made an appoint with a PD specialist - unfortunately, he cannot see us
until Feb 24! In the meantime, I am asking if anyone has had anything like
this happen.
When attempting to flex arm or calf muscle, the unaffected side displays a
'hard' muscle, on he affected side (the right, which is the side affected by
PD), both muscles feel soft, 'mushy'. The thigh muscle on the right side
still will flex and feel hard. My husband states it like this "I feel like I
am loosing the right side of my body". He also perceives this in the large
lower back shoulder muscle, and a chest muscle.
There is no apparent loss of strength in the arm - both hands were equal in
the 'squeeze test', and the Dr. could not 'break' the flexed grip of the right
arm.
However, I can certainly feel the difference when I feel the 2 sides when
flexed.
I would appreciate any input you may have.
Thank You,
Roberta
