QUESTION 2: Are these pathways the tyrosine pathway in the substantia
nigra, and the "adrenal" pathway? Can any listmember explain, simply,
how these 2 pathways differ biochemically?

Ivan,
Mono amine oxidase ( MAO) and catachol -O methyl transferase (COMT) both act
on dopa to remove (destroy) it from where ever it is found in the body.
Deprenyl acts solely on the type MAO found in the brain, thereby (at
recommended doses) obviating a problem with the so called "cheese effect"-(a
whole other story--it leads to hypertensive crises) found in the use of
general or MAO A inhibitors.
