There was a warning on ABC News Saturday night 11/21/98 about St. John's Wort and surgery. Extreme increase in bloodpressure due to interaction with anesthesia was mentioned. Dr. Geoffrey Bove of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, MA) also appeared in this news item, detailing his Lancet article about painful photosensitivity linked to use of this herb. It would be a good idea for medical doctors to educate themselves about nutritional supplements and for us to inform them about all the meds *and* natural remedies we take.
