Lannier....

I seriously doubt that any reputable neurosurgeon is gonna perform
brain surgery on someone whose condition didn't strongly indicate
that THAT wasn't the proper treatment at that time.

There'd be way too much liability in doing that, plus one just
doesn't go and have brain surgery all that easily - not when one
could lose their life, or voice, or sight, or have a stroke from the
surgery itself.

So, I disagree with your hypothesis....

Barb,
I have a theory that might explain why MFJ might have had surgery
even
though he had only mild symptoms. When you are young and famous and
rich
and at the peak (or near) of your career, then you can not afford
to
have ANY symptoms! It would be devasting to you. So you start taking
any
and all med's that are available, and if that doesn't compeletly make
you symptom free than you just go to a surgeon and say "I want brain
surgery" . I have no idea who MJF is, I never heard of lhim but I bet
this is the case. He had to do everything possible to not have any
symptoms or be handicapped in any way by PD.
I think that old Elvis would still be alive (he and I were the exact
same age) if he had not been famous and could get a Doctor to give
him
any and all the uppers and downers that he wanted to feel good all
day
and all night.
Do you think I may have a point here?
I think that even ordinary people like myself goes to the doctor too
soon sometimes and takes too many pills just because a visit to the
Dr
is 10 bucks co-pay, and a big bottle of pills is only 5 bucks co-pay.
I know you will feel free to disagree and I admit I may be way off
base
here with my theory. As they say inside the beltway, I am sending up
a
trial balloon here.
