I endorse that what you have stated. As a Parkie with fifteen years illness
behind me, there are periods when I am unable to communicate properly; soft
low voice this entails my CG that is to say my wife has to order for me when
in a coffee shop. I wear hearing aids and have only twenty percent of normal
hearing with the hearing aids eighty percent. It is a well known fact that
people with hearing problems tend to speak rather loudly. I cannot speak
loudly, any more and that is due to Parkinson's. My face is a perpetual mask
I even frighten children on occasions. People that have no idea of what
Parkinson is tend to dismiss the symptons. Most Practical GPs are not even
familiar with Parkinson. One Doctor even told my wife that I should be in a
"Loonie Bin," Hospital for mentally ill people. If the Doctors do not know
about Parkinsonism then how are the general public to be expected to know or
even cope with it. There should be much more campaigning to let the Public
see what it means to be a Parkie. Having got that off of my chest I wish you
all God Bless . Bern from Austria.
