With his image as the boy next door, without uttering a word he'll open eyes world-wide. When people learn it's not the result of poor eating as one idiot once told me, or as punishment from God but that anyone including themselves can get it and there's no cure, THEN they will listen. For once I disagee with DR. Meyer, we need to show just how horrible it can be. One letter about young onset and families spoke of the devastation of families. People need to know how it feels to watch your caregiver work 20 hour days, how it feels to try and explain an attempted suicide to your young sons, the shame of crawling when you have to, how the toll of the burden you've become eventually is unbearable. But they also need to know the devastaing emotional aspects of pd, the depression, mood and personality changes, brought by 4 or 5 dozen pills a day. I have been trying for years through my writing exactly how horrible it can be. I guess it's like a car crash;everyone slows to look but no-one wants to see the faces...
