The following announcement is forthcoming in the CAUT Bulletin
and in University Affairs:

The Centre for Academic Writing at the University of Winnipeg
invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank
of Assistant Professor.  Subject to budgetary approval, this
appointment is effective July 1, 1999.  Salary commensurate
with experience.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Rhetoric, or in
English or Communications with a rhetoric/composition
concentration, and a strong commitment to undergraduate
teaching and research in rhetoric/composition.  Teaching
duties will include first-year Academic Writing with a choice
of disciplinary focus in the humanities, social sciences,
natural sciences, or a specific topic area; and upper-level
CAW courses such as Rhetorical Criticism, Professional Style
and Editing, and Rhetoric in the Disciplines.  Candidates
with an interest in media, and/or electronic and computer-
mediated communication, will be encouraged to apply this
knowledge to their teaching.

In accordance with Canadian Immigration requirements, first
preference must be given to Canadian citizens and permanent
residents.  The University of Winnipeg is committed to
