Kim.... I've had PD for 24 years (YIKES! Just had another "Life with PD anniversary!"), and have never had a visible tremor. However, prior to my 10/94 unilateral pallidotomy, I was stiff as the proverbial board (with lotsa additional PD symptoms, too, tho didn't have the festinated walk you mentioned). Sinemet was and is the only PD-related drug I consistently take on a daily basis over the years. I must admit, for several months prior to my pallidotomy, it was touch and go which was worse - the PD symptoms or the Sinemet-side-effect-symptom. Suffice it to say, BOTH were pretty darn awful. Post-pallidotomy, literally from the moment the surgery was over, I've had no further side effects from the Sinemet and no visible PD symptoms on the right side of my body. About 18 months ago, the PD skipped over to my left side and so far, the Sinemet's working well for symptom-management by controlling VISIBLE symptoms (tho not for internal symptoms that I can tell).
