Yesterday via snail-mail I received a letter plugging an exercise device
designed by a Parkinson's disease patient.

According to the letter, the price is $39.95 plus shipping and handling,
but the amount for S&H was not mentioned. It added that $1.00 of each sale
would go to APDA for RESEARCH only.

A couple of pictures were enclosed[Xeroxed photos]. The thing appears to be
a loop of rope made to look sort of like a stirrup thanks to a piece of
what I think is heavy-duty garden hose. This is attached to a single pulley
which has another rope [or maybe bunge cord] running through the pulley
sheave. There are two more stirrups - one on each end of the second rope..
"It is designed to help stretch, tone, and strengthen muscles. It also
allows the user the control of resistance, that is needed, by leverage
along with aerobic capabilities. It is a low cost and convenient way for
anyone to help stay fit. $39.95 plus shipping and handling." [material in
quotation marks is verbatim]

There is a website.. www.stretch-a-ciser.com. The picture loads very
slowly. There is also an e-mail address: [log in to unmask] There
is a fax number : 309-359-3115. The pitchman is a Joe Fisher. There was no
address given in the letter, but there is an address in the website.

This may be the best thing since the Chalres Atlas rubber belts of the
1940's, but I don't know. I am not ordering one now.
