I have had lifelong problems with my sinuses. On of the Ear, Nose and
Throat specialists prescribed a medication and applicator made for the
purpose of clearing out one's nose. The treatment is very effective. The
irrigant is called "ALKALOL", yes with an "L". It has some of the things
as described in the earlier post but in addition it has Eucalyptus, etc. It
is very pleasant smelling and relatively inexpensive, about $2.50 a bottle.
The Dr. also prescribed an "Nose Irrigator", basically a shaped tube,
closed at one end with a tapered end at the other. This tapered end is
inserted in the nose, one nostril at a time. The liquid is released by
uncovering the fill hole which is located on the side of the tube. The
"Alkalol-Water mixture then flows gently into the nose, with the head
tilted back. The stuff will then flow into the sinuses and loosen the
debris. I find that in the winter I generally need to do it twice a day,
otherwise in the evening.

These are over the counter items but mostly are not on the drugstore
shelves. You may have to ask for them at the Pharmacy Counter.
