There are many possible causes of back pain. Is the pain in the upper or
lower back? If lower back, and especially if your patient has dry mouth
as well, I would definitely suspect dehydration. Several of my clients
with low-back pain have found that it was due to chronic mild
dehydration -- common in PD.  Drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily
relieved the problem for them.
