I am retired nurse and can only urge that every one get a copy of the
Hospitalization of a Parkisons Patient and it addition learn as much as
you can about any other condition you may have. Medical and Nursing
education cannot give all practitioners all knowledge. Most try hard to
keep up, but an educated patient is a joy to have.

All I can say is , if you are not getting good care in a hospital you
should call or ask for the supervisor to resolve any problems. I have
my husband stay with me in the hospital every time he can. I learn what
my medications are and what they look like. I have a great advantage
because I am familiar with medical terms, but I do not hesitate to
question and question. One thing is that I have an unusual heart
condition and my husband has PD. We watch each other. You do not have to
be any kind of caregiver to learn a great deal about what you or your
loved one may have.

For instance, the last time I was hospitalized was for an unrelated type
of surgery. There was a mix up about my cardiac medicine, It wound up
that the pharmacist (hospital ) came to ask me personally. You cannot
learn everything a specialist in your condition knows but you can learn
a lot. Your own experience tells you a lot.

I would be very happy if both of us were healthy, but we are not. So we
have to deal with it.

Thanks , Nita
