HI JANET, Like I said - if you say no personal attack was meant I accept that at face value. I certainly do admit that my lead-off with "We have a problem" was a conclusion and I did feel that one existed otherwise I wouldn't have started the survey. I hope that you can admit that it did stir up some anger in you which came out in such a way that it could have been (mis)interpreted as a personal attack. (Maybe the atmospheric disturbances emanating from Washington are spreading North and West). But no more defensiveness or personal attacks from either of us. ` My reading of Barb's intention is not that no rules should exist but rather that she was leaving any rule setting and enforcement up to the group. Barb has final authority in terms of list membership. In any social system rules- either explicit or implicit - exist. I would like to see them explicit- not to minimize free interchange of ideas but to maximize it- to make it possible for the largest number of he PD community to participate. It was my intention from the beginning- if a problem is perceived- to act as a catalyst for the group to come up with a set of explicit guidelines which will address the needs as we perceive them strengthening the positives and coming up with creative solutions to the problems. Hopefully they will be so "common sense" that gentle reminder - not a squad of "LIST NAZIS"- will be enough to encourage compliance If the group desires we can develop these and other concepts more.
