Internal pallidum stimulation effective for "off" states in Parkinson's
disease

WESTPORT, Dec 21 (Reuters Health) - Bilateral high-frequency stimulation
of the internal globus pallidus significantly improves symptoms of
Parkinson's disease during the medication "off" state. Dr. J. Volkmann
of Heinrich-Heine-University in Dusseldorf and colleagues there and
elsewhere in Germany conducted a pilot study to examine the efficacy of
stimulation in nine patients with severe Parkinson's disease with on/off
