Hi Charlie, On 1st reading, I thought your simple suggestion was an excellent idea. Subsequently I have started to think that we may find the baby gone with the bathwater. My concern is that the list will lose the 'exchange' part of it's title and become a series of isolated statements. Part of the strength of this list is (was?) the spontaneous nature of the debate. I am also concerned that many people, particularly newcomers to the list, or the more reticent of the existing membership, may lack the confidence to 'broadcast' to the list as a whole when to do so requires a deliberate choice. If I am right in this belief the list will stagnate and eventually die for lack of new ideas and points of view. I am not saying that, assuming it is technically possible, your idea shouldn't be tried, but I do think we should do so with care and aware that this is not a simple change after all but one which changes the list on a fundamental level.
