Feeling warm after dye insertion is perfectly normal. However, getting hives - even one, is not. Recently, one of my patient was returned from x-ray after a panicked phone call from an x-ray technician informing me that he had developed *one* hive after dye insertion. She demanded that I call a resident to get a Benadryl order to stave off an allergic reaction. I complied, of course. We all took the incident very seriously. ------ Regards Mary Ann
