You are correct.  Feeling warm after dye insertion is perfectly normal.
However, getting hives - even one, is not.  Recently, one of my patient was
returned from x-ray after a panicked phone call from an x-ray technician
informing me that he had developed *one* hive after dye insertion.   She
demanded that I call a resident to get a Benadryl order to stave off an
allergic reaction.  I complied, of course.  We all took the incident very
seriously.
