Hi Barbara,

I saw it too. I thought it was a very good piece for a couple of reasons:

1. The opening was good because the voiceover made it clear that this is not
just an 'old person's' condition

2. It showed how **real** Parkinson's is (her extreme dyskinesia and young
age in particular). The woman's name was Michelle Block if I am not mistaken
and she showed a "realistic bravery" which I believe is extremely helpful in
getting the message about Parkinson's out to the general public.

3. It made a very useful link with the news about Michael J Fox and his
optimism about a cure in the short-term -- echoed solidly by the doctor from
Emory.

4. The point was also made (by her husband I think) that greater awareness
about Parkinson's is important because it demystifies the condition and
makes it easier for Parkinsonians to be "out" and to function like other
people.

I hope CNN reruns it.

BTW, I regret that I haven't spotted the Leeza show on our local cable
outlets here in Halifax. I suppose it can appear on almost any of the
commercial stations. Anyway, great work, Barb Mallut.

Best to everyone for the last days of 1998 and big things for Parkinson's in
1999!

TTFN
Peter
