Colleen,
The changes in vision caused by PD are not correctable with glasses except
sometimes blue lenses; they are part of the progression of PD and also, I
believe, of diabetes. Ken's prescription for glasses has not changed for
years, but his ability to distinguish different colors has faded, and so has
his ability to change focus quickly. He has a small cataract that has not
grown. He went to the Opthamologist recently to see if perhaps the problem
was the cataract, but it isn't. As the doctor sad, "It's too bad, if it were
the cataract, I could do something about it, but there is nothing I can do
about this." I do notice that Ken can focus and see better in a very bright
light and when his meds are working. He used to miss the toilet but now he
wears depends or uses a urinal, so we don't have that trouble so much. Have
you considered using a urinal and then emptying it in the toilet?
Also urinary urgency is part of the disease. When Ken was diagnosed 17 years
ago, he'd been to the Urologist twice in the past year for urinary urgency and
could not get a solution. That symptom disappeared for many years after he
started sinemet, but he has it now again.
