I may have passed some bad info on ULTRAM, a pain killer. i am taking the
liberty of posting to the list Neurologist Dr. Bob Fink's post to me re
same.

Fortunately, Bob, you sign with your credentials so when i send this to my
pain center doc it has some built-in validity! Thanks!!

Bruce,
I would consider Ultram as being somewhat more than "mildly
addicting". For occasional use, it is OK, but I would be careful.
Have you tried a non-brain-acting muscle relaxant? Ask your doctor
about Methocarbamol (trade name Robaxin). If taken in full dose (1.5
grams four times a day), it can be quite effective in muscular back
pain (I use it for my patients and for myself). Robaxin has minimal
side-effects (occasional GI upset if taken on an empty stomach) and,
for 90% of the population has no sleepiness effect.

Best,
Bob
