hi all

barbara wrote to me in re the tv-ready-list:
i enjoyed reading her message, admired her spirit,
and have sent it in, all 'neatened up', with her permission:

>I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in '93; I was 48 at the
>time. It took the doctors two years to tell me what was
>wrong with me. THEY do not look for Parkinson's in young
>people. [I wish I was young] One of the first things I
>noticed was I could not scramble eggs or close the back
>door. My husband thought I was nuts. When the doctors told
>me I had PD, I was delighted, because it was not in my head.
>I took things for granted. Like the walking that I liked to do.
>I still can walk, but have a hard time doing it. Getting in
>and out of bed. The simple things I would take for granted.
>The other day I went food shopping. We do not have a car so
>I came home by cab. By this time I was stiff and I could not
>move. My body was frozen. I am a person who likes to do for
>herself. I find it hard to ask people, especially my husband,
>for help. Parkinson's is a funny disease. Parkinson's affects
>us all in so many different ways.
