Following is an excerpt from an e-mail sent by Allison DeKosky of
Senator Arlen Specter's office to Rachel Simon, Philadelphia Inquirer.

"As you may know, Senator Arlen Specter has shown keen interest in the
federal role in stem cell research, and held a hearing on December 2,
1998, to explore the issue. We were intrigued by your column in today's
Philadelphia Inquirer about Richard Pikunis as we are putting together
another hearing for Tuesday, January 12. This follow-up hearing will
address some of the patient and research issues surrounding stem cell
and human embryo research.
"The Senator is interested in having Mr. Pikunis testify at Tuesday's
hearing here in Washington.........:

Richard has been in contact with Senator Specter's office and will be in
Washington Tuesday morning, January 12 for the hearing which starts at 9
:30 am.
