UCSD To Hold Parkinson's Trials

(LA JOLLA) -- The University of California at San Diego will receive a
grant to conduct a national clinical trial of a treatment which could
ease the progression of Parkinson's disease. The university's school of
medicine has been awarded nearly two-Million-dollars for the three-year
study. The study will be conducted on 80 people who don't yet require
treatment of the disease at 12 locations across the U-S. Researchers
will test the potential of a compound called ``coenzyme Q-ten'', which
is now sold as a dietary supplement. The compound is a natural part of
the cells which produce energy for the body. Parkinson's is a
progressively disabling neurological disorder.
