Dear Bob & Joy Graham,

I am unfamiliar with the "speech enhancer" but I have been using what
sounds like a very similar device for over 2 years now since I descovered=

this phenomenon at my local science exhibit hall. You can find numerous
posts by myself on this list if you do a search of the archives requestin=
g
"speech and riess". In a nutshell the device I have built is called a D=
AF
(delayed audio feedback) and it allows one to hear one's own speech about=

600 milliseconds delayed. This forces one to attend to the task of
speaking rather than speech. An analogy would be focusing on one's finge=
rs
while playing the piano rather than focusing on the music which is being
created. The device can quite magically convert garbled (disartric) spee=
ch
into normal speech. By the way a similar rationale can be applied to
overcomming writing problems.

Regards,

Tom
